Edison 10, South Plainfield 8: Robert Roma pitched three shutout innings with seven strikeouts and allowed a hit for the win and Darren Tirado slugged a solo home run as Edison got the GMC Red Division sweep.
The visiting Eagles (4-0) led from the start by scoring three runs in the first inning and three in the second, one in the fifth and three more in the sixth. South Plainfield (2-3) scored four times in the fifth and sixth innings but couldn’t get closer.
Roma also went 2-for-2 (three walks) with an RBI and scored twice. Dom Innocenti (two runs), Sam Kentos (three RBIs, three runs) and Ray Tavarez (two doubles, three RBIs) had two hits apiece and Brayden Roma singled with an RBI.
