OF: Dom Massaro, South Plainfield, Sr.
Future South Plainfield baseball players will aspire to be like Dom. Massaro graduates as the program’s all-time leader in hits (156), runs (122) and stolen bases (86) to go along with a .414 batting average. The speedster patrols center field and makes things happen from his leadoff spot. This spring, he hit .524 (54-for-103), walked 13 times, and had 24 RBIs, 39 runs scored, 26 stolen bases, while chipping in two home runs, 19 doubles and a triple. He committed to play at Brookdale.
UTL: Aiden McCarthy, South Plainfield, Sr.
As if McCarthy’s junior season wasn’t impressive enough (1.34 ERA, 37 Ks, 52 1/3 IP), he took it to another level this spring. The left-hander had 74 strikeouts in 63 innings going 8-2 with a 2.00 ERA allowing 55 hits and 10 walks. He has 123 career strikeouts with a 1.79 ERA. The Rutgers-Newark commit upped his batting average from .297 a year ago to .367 (33-for-90) with 28 RBIs, two home runs, 10 doubles, 29 runs and 20 walks.
