East Brunswick 13, South Plainfield 3
 
James Schuld went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI including one that invoked the mercy rule in the home sixth.
 
Brandon Rosenthal (3-for-3) and Kevin Schuster (3-for-3) were among eight players who had at least one hit for East Brunswick.
 
David Bermudez ignited a pivotal six-run rally in the second inning with an RBI single. Bermudez and Mike Sutton scored two runs apiece for East Brunswick (2-1), which opened the season with a series split against St. Joseph.
 
Winning pitcher Joe Petrocelli scattered eight hits, fanned four and walked two over five and two thirds innings. Seth Warner struck out the lone batter he faced in the top of the sixth.
 
 
Rosenthal and Schuld each doubled twice. Schuster and Brad Edwards also had twin baggers.
Billy Keane went 2-for-3 with an RBI for South Plainfield (2-1), while six teammates had one hit apiece. Mike Marrero and Rob Gonzalez plated the Tigers’ other runs.
The teams combined to strand 16 runners.
