GMCSBL Final Game of the Season - South Brunswick 8 South Plainfield 6

The season finale was a better game on paper than it was in the field. The Tigers fell behind early but kept pace, for the most part, with a motivated South Brunswick team.

Looking to avenge an opening round loss to the Tigers in the U17 Don Mattingly State Tournament last week, South Brunswick struck for 3 quick runs in the 1st inning and 2 in the 2nd.

The Tigers came back with 3 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th, but it was not enough to take the lead.

South Brunswick's Ariel Torres smacked a 3 run homerun in the 6th, sealing the victory for the Vikings. The Tigers tried to answer back in the 7th with 2 more runs but came up short for an 8-6 loss in their final 2010 GMCSBL game.

Brandon Downes finished with a double, single, a stolen base, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Stephen Petriello had 2 singles and 2 runs scored. Quinn Cochrane had 2 doubles, a single, and 3 RBIs. Dan Hansen had a single, sac fly, and 2 RBIs. Ryan Marcoux had a single, a stolen base and 1 run scored.

Charlie Huber took the loss after coming on in relief of Tom Bowden and Ryan Hutchinson who pitched the 1st and 2nd innings respectively.
