Kyle Moroney struck out eight in South Plainfield's 5-0 victory over Colonia in South Plainfield.
Moroney went the distance scattering five hits, none earned and walked two. On offense, South Plainfield scored all five of its runnings in the bottom of the sixth. Mike Polizzano hit a two-RBI single. Chris Graves, Rob Eggert and Nick Polizzano all drove in runs as well.

South Plainfield 5, Colonia 0: Senior righty Kyle Moroney threw a complete-game five-hitter, striking out eight to lead the Tigers in their season opener. The Tigers broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the sixth with five runs. Mike Polizzano drove in two runs and Nick Polizzano, Rob Eggert and Chris Graves had RBI. Sophomore J.T. Desordi had two hits for Colonia (0-1).
