A.J. Celentano struck out seven and walked one in a four-hit shutout as third seed South Plainfield defeated 14th seed J.P. Stevens, 7-0, in the first round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament in South Plainfield.
Rob Eggert went 3-for-3 with a double and one RBI for South Plainfield, which scored three in the second and four in the third. Patrick Boyle finished 1-for-2 with two RBI, and Quinn Cochrane went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
