South Plainfield finds home field redemption against Monroe Township
Baseball Recap: South Plainfield Tigers vs. Monroe Township Falcons

There's no place like home for South Plainfield, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Monroe Township Falcons out 9-7. This was a revenge matchup for South Plainfield, as the team was forced to settle for a 3-2 defeat when these two played last Thursday.
For Monroe Township's part, Jake Lobue made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Fletcher, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Monroe Township lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
South Plainfield's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. As for Monroe Township, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Plainfield will face off against Old Bridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Old Bridge will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something South Plainfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Monroe Township, they will head out on the road to take on Robbinsville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Monroe Township has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

A late home run by Zach Robinson helped South Plainfield edge out a 9-7 win over Monroe, in South Plainfield.
Robinson broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning by cracking a timely two-run homer. The Tigers (8-3) got two more runs in the inning thanks to a two-run RBI single by Tyler Balent.
Aiden McCarthy earned the win in relief by striking out two while conceding one hit and no walks in 1 1/3 innings.
The Falcons (7-4) threatened to tie the game in the seventh after a solo homer by Harrison Lolling and an RBI single by Owen Judge but Chase Donovan got the TIgers out of a ham by retiring Monroe’s last two hitters.
Robinson and Dan Kapsch both finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
South Plainfield 9, Monroe 7
Shortstop Zach Robinson hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to put the Tigers ahead 7-5 and right fielder Ryan Balent added a two-RBI single to make it 9-5.
The Tigers (8-3) held on for the key GMC Red Division win.
Sophomore lefty Aiden McCarthy picked up the win coming in relief in the sixth inning after the Falcons tied the game. He pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts.
In the top of the 7th, Monroe (7-4) threatened after Harrison Lollin homered to right and another run scored on Owen Judge’s RBI single.
Tigers pitcher Chase Donovan got the last two outs to preserve the win. Ryan Balent singled and had two RBIs and Dan Kapsch was 2-for-3 (3 runs). Having a hit apiece in the win were Jayden Alvarez (2 runs), Nick Irizarry (RBI, run) and Aiden McCarthy each had a hit.
For Monroe, Judge was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Jake Lobue (RBI, 2 runs) and Nick Fletcher (double, run) had two hits apiece.
