South Plainfield hands Woodbridge first loss
Aiden McCarthy drove in three runs for South Plainfield in its 7-3 win over Woodbridge in South Plainfield.
Dom Massaro went 2-for-4 with a RBI for South Plainfield, which scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-0 lead.
Derek Oxner and Xavier Diaz recorded multi-hit games for Woodbridge.
South Plainfield has won four of its past five games to improve to 7-3. Woodbridge was handed its first loss off the season to drop to 8-1 and maintains its first place spot in the Greater Middlesex Conference Red Division.

South Plainfield 7, Woodbridge 3: Aiden McCarthy singled and drove in three runs and Mike Castagna earned the win as South Plainfield handed Woodbridge its first loss in the GMC Red Division game.
The Tigers (7-3) led 2-0 and broke it open with five in the bottom of the fifth. Castagna allowed three runs in six innings giving up seven hits to slow down the hot-hitting Barrons (8-1). Jayden Jimenez threw a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Dom Massaro went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run. Dan Kapsch (2 runs), Nick Irizarry (run) and Chris Loniewski (RBI, run) each had a hit for the Tigers.
Xavier Diaz (run) and Derek Oxner (run) each had two hits for Woodbridge and Michael Gurovich and Bryan German each singled with an RBI.
