South Plainfield Drops Highest Score of Season Against East Brunswick

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Plainfield). Everything went their way against the East Brunswick Bears on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-3 win. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Aiden McCarthy and Dan Kapsch did most of the damage at the plate: McCarthy got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and three RBI, while Kapsch got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Kapsch has posted since April 4th. The team also got some help courtesy of David Butrico, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

South Plainfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Brunswick only managed six hits.

South Plainfield is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for East Brunswick, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

South Plainfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
