South Plainfield 3, J.F. Kennedy 1: The Tigers (13-7) rallied for three runs in the sixth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit and claim a share of the White Division championship.
South Plainfield and Monroe, which posted a 3-0 win over North Brunswick, finished with identical 8-2 division records. The teams split their regular-season series.
Nick Polizzano cracked a two-run single, while teammates Chris Graves (RBI) and Bryan Gillen (run scored) also had a hit off losing pitcher Tom Sharfetz.
Winning pitcher Jake Alba went the distance, fanning 11, scattering three hits and walking one. Sharfetz fanned four, allowed four hits and walked two.
Ariel Tejada singled and scored a run for the Mustangs (6-14), while Sharfetz had an RBI.
The Tigers have won five of their last six, while J.F. Kennedy has dropped six in a row, scoring a total of just seven runs during its current losing streak.
