Ricky Pelligrino scored what proved to be the winning run in the top of the fifth inning as South Plainfield defeated Metuchen, 2-1, in Metuchen.

Chris Shine pitched two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win and Nick Polizzano earned the save after a scoreless seventh inning.

Metuchen's Mike Lapczynski went 2-for-3 and Alex Brooks pitched a four-hitter in defeat.
