South Plainfield 6, Monroe 3 (8 inn): Aiden McDermott clubbed the go-ahead two-RBI double in the visiting eighth inning and finished 2-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored. Pat Boyle and AJ Celentano each collected two hits for No. 7 South Plainfield (8-4) and teammate Justin Marks scored three times. Celentano (1-0) went all eight and allowed three earned runs on four hits while walking six and striking out 11. Peter Kowal went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for No. 9 Monroe (5-6) and teammate Chris Hernandez knocked a two-RBI single. Dan Marsh and Andrew Cohen combined to strikeout 14 Tigers but issued seven free passes.
