South Plainfield 5, Piscataway 2
South Plainfield broke open a scoreless
game in the top of the eighth inning with two outs. The Tigers (6-7 overall, 5-4
in GMC White) scored two runs on an error from a Mike Stanczak hard-hit ground
ball.
South Plainfield added another run on an error and two insurance runs on a
base hit from Ashwin DeGroot. In the bottom of the eighth, No. 7 Piscataway
(7-4, 5-2) scored twice highlighted by a triple from Matt Peterson.
Both
starters threw gems as Chris Shine earned the win by allowing two hits in seven
innings with 10 strikeouts, three walks and one hit batter. Jayson Mahmood took
the loss despite allowing no earned runs in 7 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts,
four hits and two walks.

Chris Shine struck out 10 and walked three while conceding three hits and no runs in seven innings as South Plainfield took a 5-2 extra innings win over Piscataway in Piscataway.
The game went scoreless for seven innings. South Plainifield's offense sparked in the top of the eighth inning to score five runs.
Ashwin deGroot drove in three runs for the Tigers, while Rob Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Michael Marrero struck out one and conceded two hits in one inning of relief.
Jason Mahmood struck out eight while conceding four hits in seven innings on the mound for Piscataway.
