South Plainfield 11, Sayreville 1: The Tigers snapped a three-game losing
streak with a mercy-rule win over the Bombers, against who they scored eight
runs in the second inning to take a commanding early lead.
Winning pitcher Austin Feltham went the distance, scattering four hits,
fanning two, walking one and allowing one earned run over six economical innings
during which he threw just 64 pitches.
Mike Stanczak went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored.
Chris Shine and Niko Vasquez also had two hits apiece, one of which was a double
for Vasquez.
TJ Massaro and Mike Marrero each scored twice. South Plainfield collected
12 hits, drew six walks and took advantage of three errors.
Drew Zimmerman went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Kyle Richards doubled
and scored Sayreville’s lone run.
