South Plainfield 10, Carteret 2

Victorious hurler Billy Keane went the
distance, fanning 12 and allowing one earned run to help the 14th-seeded Tigers
win a league tournament preliminary round game.
Keane helped his own cause, going 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.
Batterymate Nico Vasquez singled, doubled and drove home a run.
Mike Stanczak went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for South Plainfield,
while teammate Chris Born went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Sophomore Jordan Hamberg, a recent jayvee callup who was making his third
start, delivered a clutch two-RBI single in the third inning when the Tigers
scored five times. Vasquez had an RBI double during that rally.
South Plainfield (15-9) will face third-seeded South Brunswick on Monday in
the next round.
The Tigers have won six straight.
