Shine helped his own cause with a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning, while RJ Massaro, Jordan Hamberg and Brody Donovan scored a run apiece for South Plainfield (18-8), which had five hits as a team.
Brett Godown allowed three hits over 4 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out three and walking three while earning a no-decision for Delaware Valley (10-9).
South Plainfield will face top-seeded Gov. Livingston in the quarterfinal round on Thursday.

Shine, a Seton Hall University signee, struck out nine and scattered three hits
in the opening round of the Central Group II Tournament.
The Tigers will face top-seeded Governor Livingston in Thursday's
quarterfinals.
