Maxx Johnson singled in David Rondesko with the winning run as 15th-seeded South River (11-7) rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh in the preliminary round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament in South River. Rondesko (4-2) went the distance as South River defeated 18th-seeded Spotswood (8-9) for the third time this season. Spotswood's Corey Brown had two hits and scored twice. South River will play at second-seeded and No. 5-ranked South Plainfield in the tournament's first round tomorrow afternoon.
