Mark Tomei had three hits, including a triple, and scored twice for South Plainfield (10-6), which erupted for 11 runs over the fifth and sixth innings behind Dan Hansen (5-1) in Monroe. Shane O'Connor collected two hits and reached base on four occasions for South Plainfield. SOUTH PLAINFIELD 13, MONROE 7:
Monroe held a 3-2 lead heading into the fifth inning.
In the top of the fifth junior Stephen Petriello gave South Plainfield (11-7) the lead for good with a two run double, that also contributed to a six run inning.
Junior Mark Tomei went 3-for-5 with two runs scored for the Tigers.
Nick Dini drove in two runs while going 4-for-5 with two runs scored for Monroe (11-3).
