Brandon Downes went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and a walk-off solo home run to left-center in the bottom of the seventh as South Plainfield (15-7) ran its winning streak to six games with the surprisingly close victory in South Plainfield. Carteret (2-18) tied the score in the top of the seventh as Erik Fruscella singled and scored on an error and Jonathan Caraballo singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alejandro Rodriguez. South Plainfield's Mark Tomei doubled twice while Carteret's A.J. Marchitelli also had two doubles and drove in two runs.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD 6, CARTERET 5:

Senior center fielder Brandon Downes belted a game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the South Plainfield. The Tigers (15-7) had led most of the game, but senior Alejandro Rodriguez tied it for Carteret (2-18) with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh.
