Jake Alba pitched a five-hitter allowing one earned run with five walks and six strikeouts to lead South Plainfield to a 3-1 victory over Colonia in South Plainfield.
Tommy Dunn had two hits with an RBI and Bryan Gillen added an RBI double for South Plainfield.
Mike Wilson had two hits and Mike Parry added an RBI single for Colonia.

South Plainfield 3, Colonia 1: Jake Alba (2-0) went the distance, fanning six, walking five, scattering five hits and allowing one earned run as the Tigers (5-3) won for the fifth time in their last six games.Tommy Dunn went 2-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt and a run scored. Bryan Gillen highlighted a two-run rally in the fifth with an RBI double to help South Plainfield take a 3-0 lead.
The Patriots parlayed a leadoff walk, a wild pitch and consecutive fielder's choice groundouts into a seventh inning run.
Colonia (1-6) has scored just nine runs this season. Six of its games have been decided by one run. The Patriots' six losses are by a total of 12 runs.
