Division champions crowned: Each of the divisions in the GMC were determined over the last week. Spotswood captured the Blue Division title, South Amboy won the Gold Division title, while South Plainfield won the Red Division crown.

Dunellen finished in first place in the Silver Division, while Woodbridge won the White Division title by beating Edison on back-to-back games.

Here’s why: South Plainfield surges into the rankings for the first time this season on the heels of a six-game winning streak, including back-to-back wins over then-No. 19 Old Bridge. Coach Scott Gleichenhaus’s team was then able to clinch the Red Division of the Greater Middlesex Conference with a win over St. Joseph (Met.) on Tuesday.
